The Good & The Bad About DJ's

I have posted before how important it is to have a DJ or Entertainer at your reception. No, a DJ is not a human i-POD, they DO NOT just play music. If this has been your experience with DJ's then you have been ripped off! DJ's play Master of Ceremonies. They help coordinate the whole reception. Unfortunately, we have run into many un-professional weekend warrior DJ's this summer. PLEASE, PLEASE, do your homework when it comes to your DJ ( as well as all your vendors) They can make or break your event. Here are some things we have witnessed:

The DJ is 1 1/2 hours late, the DJ has obviously been drinking, the DJ got the grooms name wrong not just once but, 5 TIMES, the DJ played the wrong song for the couple's first dance, when the groom asked what to do with the garter the DJ says over the mike: "I don't know dude, just throw it," the DJ asked us what it meant when the guests were clinking the glasses, when we asked what the schedule was for the evening, they didn't have one, the DJ announced the whole wedding party wrong, and the list goes on. We never had worked with these guys before and frankly had never heard of them before. I don't know where people are getting the names of these "DJ's" but, here are DJ businesses that have been around and have a good reputation ( included but not limited to): Sensational Sounds, Born to Boogie, Complete Music, Randy Rodriguez Entertainment, Blue Moon, Celebrity DJ, and Emcee Squared. These professionals are also on the preferred vendor lists of many venues. I'm sure there are other wonderful DJ's out there that we have yet to work with. You really aren't saving any money if your reception is ruined. Oh, and your photos are much better when you are having fun and smiling!

Erin & Toby's Wedding

We photographed great couple this past weekend. Erin & Toby were married at

St. Patrick's Catholic Church followed by a ceremony at The Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Toby is a firefighter and they were swept away by a fire truck after the ceremony! We will have all of Erin & Toby's photos up in the next few weeks so check back!

Our September 7th and 8th Weddings

We had a busy weekend but, well worth it! We headed up to Breckenridge to Ten Mile Station for Josh & Sarah's wedding. Josh & Sarah are from Chicago so this was a complete destination wedding. Saturday we were back in Colorado Springs for Corrinne & Bill's wedding at St. Mary's Cathedral. Another beautiful and charming couple!! Janet & Seaton's Hillside Gardens Wedding

Janet & Seaton were married on July 28th at Hillside Gardens. We started their photos downtown at the Antler's Hilton. When it was time for the ceremony it pured rain but, the smiles never left the couple's faces. Janet had lots of family come to the wedding from Korea. Rachael & Chad's Wedding

Rachael and Chad were married on July 14th at The Broadmoor Community Church. Rachael has such a bubbly personality and its contagious! She also models which is very obvious in her photos. Rachael and Chad are having a reception in Kentucky, so we had lots of time with just the couple. We headed over to The Cliffhouse, where they were staying and then walked through downtown Manitou Springs. We ran into a friend of the couple's who let us use his motorcycle for some photos and ended at the bar for a drink. What a great time we had. Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day! Family Portraits

We photographed the Udall family at their home in Black Forest last week. The best family portraits are done when they wear solid colors that coordinate. The Udall's chose black which looks good on everyone. They were a wonderful family to work with. Thanks guys!

Colorado Springs High School Seniors

I just wanted to put a quick post about "effects" This is very popular with high school seniors. Here is an example of two recent ones we did. We did selective color on the guitar photo. The one of the car we faded the background of just the car grill and overlayed the photo. Notice we also created bolts to give the effect of the photo being bolted on. We can customize any photo and all prints ordered from us are completely retouched. Check out the before and afters!!

Corey & Katie's Engagement Photos

We photographed Corey & Katie last week. Corey works for Sensational Sounds DJ Service and he is awesome. We love working with Corey! He finally brought in his lovely fiance', Katie. We have heard so much about her! She is just a sweetheart! He also brought his son along for some family photos. We had a blast. They will be getting married next year in Hawaii. Lucky them! We had two weddings this past Friday and Saturday. We started with Kristin & Jonathan at Shove Chapel on Friday. What a sweet couple! Chelsea & Shawn were married on June 29th. They had an evening wedding at the Briarhurst Manor Conservatory. They booked us a year out which is a good idea for summer weddings! They also decided to see each other before the ceremony, having a romantic moment together. This also left nothing to do but, party after the ceremony!
